This is the track I was listening to in the evening, as I lay curled up on the couch immersed in the wonder that is Ngozi Adichie’s “Americanah” …which incidentally is a tale about a Nigenrian girl in America…and her blog!! Blogging.. there is no getting away from it, is there??
I was happy.But I was not content. I knew something was missing from claiming it as the moment perfect… And then I realised… I am not munching on anything!! Thats whats wrong.
I love reading books.Fiction.Love losing myself in author’s mind..the stories..the words.. It somehow uplifts me…it makes me happy..takes me away to my good place…the place thats always a balmy sunny with pleasant laughter!!
And I like eating. Ever since I was a child, I used to read books and snack on something or the other… Its become kind of an addiction at this point..I see a book, or a movie..I have to snack. And NO.. I don’t call eating almonds and walnuts snacking! Ha!!! Sue me!!
So anyways ..where was I?? I seem to digress alot..blame that on my food fixation..I am writing this and thinking of what I will be cooking and more importantly eating, tomorrow…!!!
After the realization hit that I needed something to satiate my senses, I got up and looked around in the kitchen.. Somehow the obvious answers of Nachos, chips, cookies didn’t excite me ..And then my eyes fell on a small jar of peanuts!!
And Yay… I knew I had got my answer!!
Roasted masala peanuts are simply the best answer to your snacking cravings..Its spicy, tangy and yumm… Its quick and easy….and there really is nothing like being covered in the masala of peanuts with a book in one hand and a cool drink in the other.. not even bothering to get up, except may be to refill that bowl!
I know its not really a “recipe” …but for those who haven’t tried it yet, or are new to the kitchen…here goes..
Make this simple roasted masala peanuts …and create special blissful moments of your own!
My pure moment of joy involves being engrossed in a good book with masala covered all over me…. 🙂
- 1 cup unsalted peanuts ( with or without skin , your choice..I keep the skin on)
- 1 Small red onion ..chopped fine
- 1 Green chillie chopped fine , discard seeds
- 3-4 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped fine
- Juice of half a lime
- Red chillie powder 1/2 tsp (varies as per taste)
- Chaat masala 1/2 tsp..
How to :
- Dry toast/roast the peanuts on a pan till golden and browned… about 5 mins..taste to make sure its toasted all the way through and is crunchy..
- Take it off the heat.
- Add the remaining ingredients.
- Serve hot with a cold glass of cucumber lemonade or hot chai…
