A delicious, light, crunchy and extremely more-ish favorite of all. Beer battered onion rings are the perfect weekend/ movie night/ game day food. Ready in 15 mins, its best accompanied with sliders and chilled beer.
Recipe type: Appetizer
Cuisine: American
Serves: 2
  • 2 large red/ yellow onion, cut into .5 inch rings
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ can Budweiser , measured after removing the froth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Seasonings: Salt, pepper, smoked paprika, mixed herbs, onion powder, garlic salt - all as per taste.
  1. Cut the onions into round thin slices.
  2. Put some (1/4 cup) flour on a plate and dredge the onion slices in it.
  3. Take the remaining ¾ cup flour and add the seasonings to it. Mix it up.
  4. Add the beer to the flour and whisk till smooth.
  5. The batter should be thin yet coating the back of a spoon easily. Add more beer, one tbsp at a time if needed.
  6. Leave aside for ten minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a cauldron.
  8. Once the oil is hot, but not smoking (look for little bubbles on the surface of the oil), shake excess flour off the onion, dip into the batter and fry on medium heat till golden!
  9. Drain on tissue.
  10. Serve immediately with your choice of condiments and snacks. I am serving these with malai chicken tikka burger with home made pickles and salsa.
  11. Enjoy!
