Aam panna or green mango sherbat is a summer must-have drink in India. A super healthy sherbat with serious benefits like protection against sun/heat stroke, this tangy sweet summer cooler will soothe your parched throats like nothing else can.
Recipe type: Drinks/ beverages
Cuisine: Indian
Serves: 6 glasses
  • Raw/ green mango - 3
  • Sugar- 2 tbsp per glass
  • Chaat masala or rock salt - ¼ tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder- ½ tsp
  • Water - as needed
  • Sprite - Optional.
  • Mint leaves - a handful
  • Ginger chopped fine - ½ tbsp
  • Lemon wedges.
  1. Start by pressure cooking the mangoes in some water for 2-3 whistles.
  2. Remove the skin and make a pulp of it using your hands. Don't discard the water. Simply squeeze the pulp off the mangoes into the water in which it was cooked.
  3. Keep in a closed bottle in fridge till needed.
  4. To serve:
  5. Add ¼ glass of mango pulp into a glass, add 2 tbsp sugar, chaat masala and cumin powder as mentioned above, add a little ginger and mint as per taste. Mix till the sugar is dissolved completely. At this point, taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  6. Top the rest of the glass with chilled water or Sprite/7UP for a more brunch vibe.
  7. Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh ginger. Serve cold!
The sourness of raw mangoes varies from one mango to the other.
So use the measurements given here as a starting point, even I use different measurement for every lot i make.

Some people dislike the raw mango pulp in their drink, you can strain the pulp after mixing it if you wish.

Although water is simple and healthy, at times simple club soda or spriye can turn this into a fun brunch mocktail..
